Microsoft Office
We have trained in all the software contained in
the Office suite for organisations such as the Welsh Development
Agency (WDA). At the WDA, we trained the entire workforce in the
use of desktop computers and Microsoft Office. Our trainers are
people who have done the jobs of the delegates wherever possible.
For example, we use ex-secretarial staff when teaching Microsoft
Word to secretaries. In addition, we can combine techniques training
with the software training; the most obvious example is to combine
presentation skills training within a Microsoft PowerPoint course.
We run such a presentation combination course for the Police Information
Technology Organisation (PITO) at the Hendon training centre in
London. We also ran a Business Writing course at PITO with tips
and tricks on how best to construct technical reports in Microsoft
Word. We also design courses that add value to the Office suite,
for example when teaching people to use Microsoft Excel we include
a course in good spreadsheet design as in a recent study by a
major accountancy firm it was found that over 50% of spreadsheets
had critical errors in their design.
